This portmanteau film kicks off when Anna runs into her ex, Erik, at a wedding and is forced to confront their painful split-up and the realization that her feelings for him have not changed. Erik, however, does not seem open to reconciliation. Through the course of the evening, Anna meets six other women who are dealing with their own stories of love and loss, which helps Anna to take the podium at the wedding and be honest with Erik – in front of everyone. Hopeless Romantic is an “anti-romantic, romantic-comedy”.
